Melanie has over 15 years of experience across humanitarian operations, policy and research, and legal practice. As Head of Humanitarian and Global Programs at Save the Children Australia, Melanie oversees implementation globally and supports SCA’s humanitarian preparedness and response work in the Pacific and domestically.
Prior to this, Melanie played senior roles in emergency responses with Save the Children throughout Asia and the Middle East. As an analyst at the Centre for Humanitarian Leadership, Melanie applied foresight tools to humanitarian contexts to support stronger contextual understanding, strategic planning and systemic reform.
In legal practice, Melanie has worked across refugee law as well as commercial practice and law reform. Melanie holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Australia, a Master of Development Studies from the University of Melbourne and a Graduate Certificate of Humanitarian Leadership from Deakin University.
