Simran holds a master’s degree in Humanitarian Assistance from Deakin University, and a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences Honours.

Starting with the COVID-19 pandemic response, Simran is experienced as a project manager on public health research projects, with large multi-disciplinary teams to deliver impactful outcomes. In her previous roles at The Doherty Institute and CSIRO, she has worked collaboratively across academia and clinical practice on research projects focused on COVID-19, innovative diagnostics for infectious diseases, and laboratory capacity building.

With a keen interest in building further on meaningful work from public health, Simran joined the Centre in 2025 with an aim to return to her alma mater and contribute to the humanitarian sector. In her current role, she coordinates the operations of the Centre, including human resources, finance, logistics and compliance.

Simran’s background has included research on the Australia’s obligations to the WHO for Poliovirus containment and COVID-19 vaccine inequity in countries afflicted with humanitarian crises (The Humanitarian Leader, August 2022).
