Professor Vincenzo Bollettino from Harvard Humanitarian Initiative (HHI) will collaborate with the Centre for Humanitarian Leadership (CHL) on joint research and education initiatives in Melbourne during February.
CHL, based at Deakin University, and the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative at Harvard University, are academic centres committed to supporting evidenced-based humanitarian action through research and education.
Deakin Distinguished Professor Matthew Clarke says Prof Bollettino is a long-time supporter and collaborator of CHL and is a strong advocate for a closer working relationship between the two organisations.

CHL Director, Associate Professor Mary Ana McGlasson says Prof Bollettino’s visit is the result of many months of planning and comes at a pivotal time for the humanitarian sector.
“We hope Prof Bollettino’s visit will prove fruitful and contribute to stronger ties between CHL and HHI,” A/Prof McGlasson says.
Prof Bollettino says his visit to CHL is timely as now, more than ever, partnerships are required to address global humanitarian needs.
New, innovative ideas are vital to reconfigure our ways of thinking and acting in a global political environment that is indifferent to if not hostile to the plight of people in crisis,” Prof Bollettino says.
“Given our shared values and common objectives, I am delighted with the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues at CHL to pursue joint research proposals and to contribute to one another’s education and training initiatives.”
Prof Bollettino is Director of the Resilient Communities program at HHI, and also acts as Director for the National NGO Program on Humanitarian Leadership.
