The Diplôme d’Études Supérieures en Leadership Humanitaire (DESLH) is an intensive and challenging postgraduate leadership development course aimed at Francophone humanitarians working in West and Central Africa. Five years and six cohorts of students later, new longitudinal research with graduates and partners shows that the DESLH is making a tangible contribution to localisation and humanitarian leadership—yet the data also reveals a persistent gender imbalance, reflecting the underrepresentation of women in crisis leadership roles more broadly.
As part of this event hosted by Centre for Humanitarian Leadership (CHL), a panel of crisis leadership experts will reflect on the recommendations from the DESLH gender and leadership study. The panel will discuss how donors and practitioners can implement the recommended actions and consider implications for future research. This is also an opportunity to hear from CHL about its latest research projects and diverse teaching offerings.
